Yes. Legionnaires sign an official contract and have the same status, pay and social guarantees as Ukrainian servicemen. Under the 2026 contracts pay is counted by the day: a base of about $480 a month plus $240–960 for every day in combat — frontline infantry averages from $7,200 a month, up to $11,100 — the highest front-line pay of any army today. Yes. Every legionnaire goes through training before deployment — weapons, tactics, medical basics and working as part of a unit. Modern warfare is a craft; it is taught, not assumed. And the teachers are good: in 2025–2026 Ukrainian drone teams defeated NATO units in exercises in Estonia, Germany and Sweden.
Yes, on defined terms. Under current Ukrainian law a foreign contract soldier may end the contract after six months, and the 2026 contracts come with a guaranteed discharge on completion. You see the exact terms in full before signing — nobody is held in the Legion against the contract.
